After investing 1.5 million euros in 2015, Pontevedresa Group is committed to continue generating value within the glass sector in Galicia and Spain.

In 1959, Francisco Barbeito Castro set up Cristalería Pontevedresa S.A., laying the foundations for a family-owned industrial company. A commitment to meeting clients’ needs led him to incorporate pioneering technologies, which would become decisive over the years. In 1960, a silver nitrate solution was used to manufacture mirrors; in 1989, the first line of flat tempered glass was produced in northern Spain; in 2015, the most cutting-edge technologies for glass transformation were introduced, along with a line of tempered and curved tempered glass for ultra-thin thicknesses of 3 mm.

Francisco Barbeito was always ahead of his time. In the 1960s, 70s and 80s, when entrepreneurial drive and innovation were unheard of, Barbeito sought out novel products that would add value and set his small glass business apart. Today, under the general management of his son, Francisco Barbeito Otero, Cristal Pontevedresa has become the Pontevedresa Group. CEPTUAL® and Pontevedresa Industrial, two specialist divisions provide solutions for architecture and industry.

Each brand will capitalize on the experience of more than 55 years. At Pontevedresa Group, the development of any new product is the result of a cross-cutting process involving the entire organization. At the core, the technical support teams and I+D department receive daily feedback from the experience and know-how of all the professionals working at our manufacturing centres.
